MVP offers programming to mentor youth in academic settings such as schools and libraries in efforts to cultivate the inspiration and motivation they need to focus their energies on academics, personal, social and career development.
Our LAACH ON (Leadership, Academics, Athletics, Career Development, Health and Wellness) program focuses on the following:
Career & College Exploration – we offer work experiences and reflections, information about post-secondary education and financial aid options as well as guest speakers and field trips to worksites to learn about career options.
Social & Life Skills Development – we provide leadership and teamwork development through project-based work experiences and the Youth Advisory Committee as well as skill streaming and financial and health literacy training.
Cultural Pride & Diversity – we promote respect for one’s ethnic heritage, furnish knowledge of other cultures, races or ethnic groups, and teach awareness and appreciation about other cultures.
Community Service Learning – Teen Outreach Program (TOP) – we offer this during the school year and summer.
Adult Led Discussion Groups – we create opportunities for adults to deal with the application of program learning experiences, social and personal issues, future plans and the transition from middle school to high school.
Parent Education – we cover the topics of adolescent development, parent-child communication and preparation for academic achievement, career selection and post-secondary education.
